As a young mother, she spent summers canning fruits and vegetables and vacationing with her children at Chesley Lake. She was a constant, caring presence in our home. She also was active in the congregation's Sewing Circle and children's Sunday School. After moving to Toronto in 1964 for Dad's ministry at Danforth Mennonite Church, Mom provided day care services and room and board in their home. She cared for dozens of children and extended hospitality to many guests.
