HESPELER, June 17, -- Bea-
trice Lillian, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Rabe, R.R. 2, Preston,
took wedding vows with Ward
Detweiler, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Isaiah Detweiler, R.R. 2, Breslau
in a ceremony that took place this
afternoon in Wanner Mennonite
Church. Rev. Merle Shantz offi-
ciated.
Wedding music was provided
by Miss Helen Weber and Mrs.
Willard Bechtel, who sang three
duets. Red peonies and bridal
wreath enhanced the chancel for
the ceremony, in which the
bride's father gave her in mar-
riage.
Sister Attendant
Her gown was of traditional
white satin and lace, made with
sweetheart neckline, lily-point
sleeves and gathered skirt. She
carried a bouquet of better times
roses and sweet peas.
As her sister's maid of honor,
Miss Dorothy Rabe was gowned
in pink nylon sheer, styled with
sweetheart neckline, three-quar-
ter length sleeves and gored skirt.
A similar gown in turquoise
was worn by the bridesmaid, Miss
Norma Detweiler, sister of the
bridegroom. Both carried nosegays
of rapture roses and sweet peas.
Another sister of the bride,
little Miss Helen Rabe, was flow-
er girl, wearing a gown of white
nylon sheer. Fashioned with a
round yoke, it had brief puff
sleeves and a gathered skirt. Her
nosegay was also of roses and
sweet peas.
70 Guests Attend
Harold Detweiler, R.R. 2, Bres-
lau, was his brother's best man.
A brother of the bride, Claude
Rabe, R.R. 2, Preston, and another
brother of the bridegroom, Glenn
Detweiler, also of R.R. 2, Bres-
lau, ushered.
Seventy guests were received at
a reception held on the lawn of
the bride's parents' home. Her
mother was wearing a gray figur-
ed dress with corsage of sweet
peas and the bridegroom's mother
chose a green ensemble with a
similar corsage.
Following a honeymoon in the
Thousand Islands, the couple will
live at R.R. 1, Preston. When they
left the bride was wearing a navy
gabardine suit, matching that
worn by the bridegroom, accessor-
ies in pink and navy and a should-
erette of pink carnations.
