Brubacher
dies at 73
Lloyd M. Brubacher, a paraplegic
since infancy whose active life
served as an example to the handi-
capped, died Friday at the Kitchen-
er-Waterloo Hospital after a brief ill-
ness. He was 73.
Brubacher was stricken with polio
at 18 months and lost the use of both
his legs. He lived and almost normal
and active life despite his disability.
He worked at the Cober Printing
Company for 42 years before retir-
ing two years ago.
Brubacher was an avid sports en-
thusiast with hockey being his first
love and he seldom missed a game
on radio or TV. He was a loyal sup-
porter of the Kitchener Rangers and
attended their games whenever pos-
sible.
Unable to attend public school he
was tutored at home by Marjorie
Stump. He drove his own car which
was equipped with hand controls.
He was a member of Bethany Mis-
sionary Church where he taught a
boys' Sunday School class, served on
the general board of the church, plus
various committees an was a so-
olist at many church functions as
well as performing with various
singing groups.
He is survived by his wife, the for-
mer Ruth Pannabecker.
The funeral service will be held
Monday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Mis-
sionary Church.

Passed away peacefully at K-W Hos-
ptal, on Friday, Jan 28, 1983, Lloyd
M. Brubacher, aged 73 years, of 127
Franklin St. N., Kitchener.
Beloved husband of the former
Ruth Pannabecker; dear brother of
Kathleen and her husband Rev.
Ward M. Shantz, of Kitchener;
brother-in-law of Isobel Brubacher
of Toronto, Myrtle Brubacher of Kit-
chener, Rev. Earl Pannabecker and
his wife, Holly and Mrs. Norah Pan-
nnabecker of North Bay. Also fondly
remembered by his nieces and neph-
ews, other caring relatives and
many loving friends.
Predeceased by his brothers, Har-
ry and Lorne; his nephew, Barrie
Brubacher; his father, Samuel Bru-
bacher and his mother, the former
Rosetta Bricker.
Mr. Brubacher was a life-long
member of Bethany Missionary
Church and employed at Cober
Printing Service for 42 years until
his retirement.
Friends may call at the Ratz-Be-
chtel Funeral Home, 621 King St.
W., Kitchener, after 2 p.m. today
(Saturday), until noon on Monday,
then at Bethany Missionary Church,
160 Lancaster St. E., Kitchener, for
the funeral service at 2 p.m. Rev.
John Hamilton and Rev. Grant Sloss
will officiate. Interment in Wood-
land cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Wom-
ens Missionary Society of the
church or Emmanuel Bible College
gratefully acknowledged.
